Any subscribers to House Beautiful out there? It's my favorite design magazine. Well, magazine period. Not too whimsical, not too rustic, not too pretentious (are you reading this, Elle Decor?). Just jaw-dropping perfection on every page. They have a little segment called "C'mon, Show Us Your..." where they have different designers send in photos of something in their house--their entry table one month, or their favorite vacation memento another, stuff like that. And of course I lo-o-o-ove it. I don't like the styled, professional shots some of em send in, but I ado-o-o-ore the honest, snapshot peeks into a real life. And as I leaned out of bed one evening to pull a little somethin' fer snacking out of my bedside table drawer, I was overcome...

...WITH OPTIONS!!! And also with the idea for this post. So c'mon. Show us your bedside table. Well, describe it anyway. Oh, and as a bonus, if anyone can outdo me in sheer volume of snacks, I will mail them the treat of their choosing. It will be so worth the validation. And I'll be in the candy aisle anyway.
P.S. Other things on my table: phone charger, Lands' End and Ballard Designs catalogues, tissues, and my Nook. Now you know.
I love it! My chocolate stash would normally blow yours out of the water, but alas, I haven't replenished it due to the "Okay, Yes, It's Been Three Years, Fine Then, Let's Finally Lose This Baby Weight" diet. So, feel validated. I find your stash adorably miniscule. ;)
ReplyDeleteOh! My bedside table. The drawer: various pens/pencils dumped there, lots of chapstick, my favorite honey lotion, and tons of miscellany. The cupboard (oh yes, there is a cupboard): books the whole world doesn't need to see. On top: my lamp, church books I might never read but it LOOKS like I'm reading them, some candles. :)
ReplyDeleteHeather! CHARLESTON CHEWS? Yuck. I didn't think anyone actually ate those. Those are the worst ever, except for maybe Good N' Plentys. I was always ticked when I I found those in my Halloween bag. I gave them to mom. I thought she was the only one in the world who would eat them. Well, you can sleep soundly knowing that I will never raid your stash. Although I do like me a Milano or two.
ReplyDeleteI have no bedside table, but if I did it would be full of Tums, my favorite night time snack. I keep my candy stash in the minivan console.
20-30 books. (no joke) All in various stages of completion. Water. Always a glass of water. In the drawer- sour jelly bellys (the kids now get them for me for mothers day) and Starbursts. Hey! We're allowed to have cookies in there?! I was always nervous about crumbs and what the mom manual says about that, but everyone else is doing it..
ReplyDeleteCloser to 40. Whoa.
ReplyDeleteI actually took a picture but it was too horrifying to publish. Books, lotion, lip balm, really old telephone, jars of change, backscratcher, magazines, baskets of miscellaneous crap, dust, labels cut out of necklines, several pairs or readers: but NO FOOD. (Even when the rest of my house is neat and cute my bedroom is gruesome.) Don't you have to get up and brush your teeth again if you eat in bed? Am I weird? Don't get me wrong, I bring a bedtime snack to eat in bed: I just don't stockpile my snacks there. A Sonners affectation, perhaps?
ReplyDeleteThat reminds me, Heather, virtually all my blog page views start at your blog and then go see what I've written. It used to be Susie but she hasn't been posting much (I'm not judging, Sus, just remarking). So thanks for the traffic!
